Artist Statement

I am a German painter best known for my soft pastels. My subjects primarily depict perspectives of cities and landscapes. The places are recognisable and staged with details, and are often sparsely populated or even deserted. 

My inspiration comes from walking through different environments, both rural and urban, and experiencing the influence of events like Covid-19. The basis of my compositions is a combination of various perspectives on the (urban) landscape and my personal memories.

My paintings are intended to satiate the human need to create in a society where information technology and a perpetual rush are dominant.

For me, art has become a way to communicate globally about social issues.
